Prices are based on national averages per square foot. Price also depends on the type of tile, whether or not I need to install backer board first, and other things that need to be done. Those might include leveling and prepping the floor, or removing and reinstalling baseboards. But I also will work to try to stay within your budget.
Yes, I run periodic discounts of 10 or 20% off. I also have a referral program – if you refer me to someone who hires and pays me for a job, I’ll give you a $25 Amazon gift card and 20% off of the next job I do in your home over $500. That offer as good whether you are my client or not.
My prices are for labor only. I can’t price materials because those prices vary considerably. However, I can tell ou where to find good prices on materials, and help you find ways to save money.
That is the million dollar question. Before you can install new things, you have to remove the old things, and when you do that, you’re almost inevitably find some hurdles, whether its wiring, ductwork, or any number of things. Often those hurdles don’t affect the price, but they will affect the time the job takes. Based on all factors, your bathroom reno could take one week, or four, although four is unlikely.
I have been doing remodeling work for more than 25 years. It started when I was in my early twenties and I learned to install tile from a mentor. I also learned my other skills along the way. Since then, I have owned my own business. I do most client work myself so that I know it’s done right.
I typically take 50% up front, which is non-refundable, and 50% upon completion. If it’s a particularly large job, we may be able to work out something else. I take the 50% up front when we schedule the start date, and I do that because I’ve cleared my schedule for your job, and if you cancel at the last minute, I’ll lose time and money. Of course, with special circumstances, again, we may be able to work something out.
Yes, I can do tile repairs if it’s possible to repair. Sometimes, for example, you may have tiles lifting because of an uneven floor that your flooring contractor did not level. When that happens, sometimes (but not all the time) all the current floor tile may need to be removed, the floor leveled, and new tile installed again. However, I will always try to find the simplest and least expensive solution for you.
Ceramic and porcelain are generally both durable and reasonably cost-effective, although porcelain tends to be the more expensive option. Porcelain tends to be better for areas with moisture like bathrooms. However, don’t overlook luxury vinyl tile. It’s extremely during, budget friendly, and can have many different looks including a wood look.
It’s difficult to quantify what adds the most value. Cosmetic upgrades are what stands out most to buyers, so often it’s a good idea to just give your bathroom a makeover rather than going all out and changing the layout. Cosmetic updates are also less expensive that moving things around too, so they will give you a better return on your money.
When it comes to backsplashes, you have many choices. Ceramic and porcelain tend to be the favorite because of their durability and easy cleaning, but glass mosaics are also popular, even though they are harder to clean and less durable. Some natural stone tiles can stain from splashes so you might want to avoid those.
I certainly can. I can help you to create a balance between function and design, by telling you what works so that you can what you want while avoiding issues.
